(BPT) – The U.S. Farmed™ certification was developed by American Farmland Trust (AFT), a national nonprofit that helps to keep farmers on their land, to strengthen U.S. agriculture and show support for American farmers. The certification introduces a new U.S. Farmed packaging seal for products that derive at least 95 percent of their agricultural ingredients from farms in the United States. Fund raised by AFT through the certification of products will allow the organization to expand programs and provide free resources and expert advisory services aimed at helping American farmers to access, maintain, and protect American farmland.
Anheuser-Busch is the first mover in adopting the U.S. Farmed certification and seal on packaging, beginning with Busch Light this May. Anheuser-Busch’s Budweiser, Bud Light, and Michelob ULTRA beers have also been certified, and the brewer is encouraging other consumer-packaged goods (CPG) companies to join the effort to create far greater impact for American agriculture than any one company could alone.
